The Digital Tempus BI Network – Built for the Knowledge Workers
By 2005, innovation-focused knowledge workers will represent between 30 percent
and 35 percent of the employed workforce in developed nations, up from between 10
percent and 15 percent in 2000 (0.6 probability).
Business Intelligence Networks: The Future of BI
Gartner Group Research Note, 17 December 2002
When we first envisioned the Digital Tempus BI Network, we set our sights on two
challenges. First, companies were increasingly
becoming flooded in data; making it more difficult for analysts to find critical
patterns and insights in their business.
The second challenge was more pressing.
The most capable analysts, the knowledge worker, did not have the tools required
to quickly identify patterns and insights.
The result – companies typically only achieved 70% of their performance objective.
Today, the Digital Tempus BI Network helps knowledge workers exploit advanced analytical
capabilities as accessible enhancements to their current ERP and enterprise application
investments.
What’s a BI network? In Gartner’s words,
“BI networks support an interconnected, nonhierarchical network of knowledge workers
who jointly develop, share and connect data, metadata, data/process models, analyses
and decisions” - see full description below.
To experience the power of a BI Network, try Demand Forecasting
On Demand.
We’ve implemented a high-performance demand forecasting engine
as a web service
and upgraded the algorithm to identify some of the more challenging demand patterns. This new approach has advanced techiques
to accurately address trend dynamics, including abrupt changes in historical patterns.
The analysis also accounts for shifts in seasonal patterns.
At Digital Tempus, we’re currently engaged in a number of data analysis and research
projects from
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to the application of agent
technology to manage real-time data.
Through the Digital Tempus BI Network, it’s easy to connect with some of the brightest
analytical minds in the industry. We can also help you to customize your own BI Network services.
We’ll continue to publish news on innovative uses of pattern recognition technology
to connect brands, products and services to their target audiences. Please

A recent Gartner survey found that more than 95 percent of
the enterprises surveyed would support the use of business intelligence (BI) in
group-based decision making. A more group-based approach to decision making — using
today's technology — can be achieved by combining BI and workflow, using publish-and-subscribe mechanisms for reports, queries and analyses, and using newsgroups to
discuss the data. Despite this, a number of trends from both the demand and supply
side, each coming from very different angles, show that this is not enough. Another major innovation is needed and
is already apparent: BI networks.
We define BI networks as
supporting an interconnected, nonhierarchical network of knowledge workers who jointly
develop, share and connect data, metadata, data/process models, analyses and decisions.
They use a collaborative BI framework to achieve shared insight more quickly, enabling
faster, better and more-accountable decision making.
